noise in the transmission

I have a noise coming from what sounds like to be the transmission but only in first gear and not all the time, just off and on while in parking lots or drive ways. if anyone can help out on what I need to do to fix it or if its a problem to be worried about.

thanks in advance

well wed need a better description of the noice. is it only when the clutch is engaged? if so thats clutch chatter and is normal. but a good detailed description or a video of the noise would be very very helpful in diagnosing the problem

I would listen and watch for any changes. Like if the noise gets louder, any other sounds that may arise, problems shifting, etc.

I had a noise when my clutch was not pushed in and was loud when I reved it. When I would push the clutch in, the noise went away and revs were so much more quieter... turns out it was a really badly destroyed TOB.

If the noise happens with the clutch in and out, then it could also be an input shaft bearing as well...

Hope you figure it out, but I'm going to assume it's your TOB!

it is very hard to diagnose a noise over the internet, if you are really that worried take the car to someone who knows what they are doing have them give it a listen.

well i have about 86k on my trans. with alot of abuse(drag racing) and i have the same issue. almost sounds like a belt slapping around. or a whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop. lol definately need my tranny rebuilt especially in 1st gear. i tend to quickly shift into 2nd so that i dont have to here that noise but yeah i have no problems shifting.

Yeah, it's possibly the clutch chattering. Some clutches do that, so it might be.
