Never buy Exedy. I would not buy one for $100.00. Biggest piece of **** clutch sold for the EVO. I think you heard wrong.

They want $1500 for the Twin Plate, everyone else is selling them for $1300 or less.
I heard they were the best, too. What gives?

If you read the thread over in Evo general, there seems to be a problem with Rollaway's car in the clip design that holds it together.

So far it appears to be an isolated incident, but he's gone through 3 exedy's and when I get a new clutch, I don't want that happening to me... they say the HKS GDMax's use a different design, so that's what I may end up going with.

WORKS also offers a complete line of clutch kits for the Evo 8. The two single disc units are available now (C1 and C2) as is the Spin lightweight flywheel. The C3 twin disc is coming soon.

I can't say what the best is. I can say I got the ACT set up. The reason I say the Exedy is **** is because my friend went through 3 of them and never thought at any point it was any stronger then stock. I'm sure it is, but just not worth the high price. Check out Works new clutch set up or go with the new ACT set up that is just about ready.

I heard the HKS is a good clutch but, I've also heard they are noisy and don't engage very smoothly.

And how much? Do you have it in your car now, if so do you like it? Does it hold well, is it noisy, do you get that shuttering problem when you take off. Sorry so many questions, I just want to make an informed decision when spending that much cash.

Exactly how many people have installed the hyper or twin plate Exedy unit into their EVO? Not people whos friends, Brothers, Uncle has, I want to know exactly who. I have had no negative experiences with Exedy ever. As far as the pricing goes, did you call coximport and ask them to meet the $1300 Price?
Exedy's are new, ACT rebuilt stock units....hmmmmmm, now whichwould you have. That's like Autozone vs. Mits. dealer. Just my .02 though. Are the HKS units new or used? Price? Anybody know i am curious in comparing the two.

Hey Guys! We sell the Exedy Twin Plate for $1390 and that is also what we use in our car. We are VERY hard on our car and it is and has held up GREAT! The car is still extremely streetable ,and the clutch is not harsh at all. It's actually really nice. Just a little advice and input. thanks

Lightbulb

Just some feedback from another point of view...

Exedy manufactures the stock STi clutch as well as almost all of the OEM high performance Subaru clutches for the past 10 years or so (JDM STi, etc.).

I think the current EVO Exedy clutch issue is a flaw in the design, however overall, Exedy clutches are of very high quality.

My $.02

-Mike.
