I'm looking a log now of vwjeff's car, he was running CBRD's half width, which runs hotter than ours does on the dyno. On a LONG 4th gear pull with the air only from fans on the dyno at 40 psi of boost the coolant temps went from 197 to 203 and that's the hottest log I have of the car. That is also running the stock water pump, Spal fan we use and a stock thermostat.

My car runs no thermostat at all and I run the electric pump, it stays too cold most of the time.

The new Fluidyne custom radiators we had built are kick *** pieces.

I agree with david most of the half widths should work fine,

we revised ours after david found our dense cores werent cooling as well as anticipated.

Or the 100 degree thin air we have up here just sucks for cooling too? With a stock radiator my car ran at 195-200.
Doesn't change the fact that I do want to get it down to the 180-185 range though.

Back to the topic though,

You'll need custom lines and a drier to make this work as the drier is part of the stock condenser.

03whitegsr,

Jeff's in Vegas now it's been 112 there, I haven't seen a log from him driving on the road but I'll request on from him.

I'd recommend a lower thermostat in your car, Jeff's running stock too and the temps are MUCH hotter than mine. My car runs no stat at all, -10 lines and the electric pump. It's been in the mid-90's here, it runs very very cool, I tried to find a log today from driving and I couldn't but judging from the temp gauge I doubt it's running much over 150 degrees at cruise.

It would be interesting to see a log in that temp. I think the biggest problem is just the fan control as the soonest you can turn the fan on is 187F with the stock ECU. I think to avoid further off topic rambling, I'll just start a new thread in the ECUFlash forum.

03white, the fan has little to no effect on cooling once you are driving down the road, mine is usually off actually. Are your temps as hot as you say at cruise say at 60 mph too? What brand radiator do you have?

Just as a point since we are off topic anyway, my car with a modded honda radiator gets up to mid 180's max after a hard pull at 40psi. E85 car.

Yes Sir! If you have to run a filter let me know, we can build an intake for the turbo kit as a custom piece

Little bit of work you could make the civic A/C work If you need a 1/2 cut rad, we can build you one or use a CBRD.

great info. comparing my car to these temps you guys are posting makes me worry. i dont get it either.

i run a stock pump and stock T-stat. with a CBRD FULL rad 12 inch spal fan no A/C condenser and my temps are cruising speeds are 185/195. when i do a pull or drag pass i see 200 to 210. i dont know if the gauge is accurate or what.

dave i was thinking of trying a 10 degree less T-stat but i dont know where to find one. can you run a T-stat on an electric water pump system?

Wow! Some of the temps you guys are seeing reminds me of the old days in my 2G in stop-and-go traffic.

I never paid much attention to mine with the stock radiator on it, but with the half radiator, I get my numbers right from the aem.

Even with the stock radiator my car ran 195+.

As for 2Gs, the normal temp on my old one was 220...
