Hole in Cv boot

New guy here.

Just picked up a '05 Evo MR a few days ago, I was looking at the wheels and noticed grease on the inside of the rim.

I looked under the car and like I figured cv boot had a little hole in it and grease was all over wheel/control arm.

Seemed a bit fresh on the control arm. Now I'm thinking I can replace just the boot but I might as well get a whole another axle.

I'm trying to locate the correct axle, I was told 03-06 Evo axles were interchangeable? Does that include non turbo Lancer's? In that case I located an '04 GSR pass side axle.

I was also looking at aftermarket remans and found on Rockauto for pass, AUP axle part #9622N is it fine to go with an aftermarket axle? I won't be making any nasty hp anytime soon.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
They are the same. There is a boot repair kit too. I would try that first, should be around $40 from mitsuishiparts.net.

Try: http://indianapolisrackandaxle.com/ for a reman axle. I have them on my car, good guys and quick service.

I looked up on the site, attempted to send a request but will have to try later. Their site seems to be down.

I'll look into the repair kit. Thanks!

I haven't had reason to check what sort of after market boot is available for the Evo but I recently replaced two on my Subie. The after market boots looked nicer than OEM and, unlike OEM, they don't leak.

The Evo OEM axle is a nice part. A reman may be okay or not okay. You have to pull the axle in either case so the amount of work is nearly the same. So, the only argument against replacing the boot I can think of is the cost of the band pliers. So, if the boot isn't torn badly and full of dirt, I don't understand why no one ever wants to replace a boot.
