Headgasket and 60k

I am doing the head gasket and the 60k service on my evo this weekend and was just curious to those who have done it themselves how long it took you, and if there is anything that i should look out for when doing it myself.

How long depends on your mechanical abilities. I've seen a good Evo mechanic do the full 60k service in 3-4 hours. Doing the head gasket involves having the head checked and the block also perhaps. An individual can do this but it isn't exact. I'm guessing if you're doing the head gasket it is because it's leaking so you should definitely check it. Figure a good Evo mechanic can do the full job in 8-10 hours total assuming there are no complications.

You doing head studs at the same time? If not, it would be a upgrade to do now.

The secret to working on these cars (well, any vehicle when doing complicated stuff) is not to limit yourself time-wise. Instead have something lined up you can drive and work at your leisure until done.

I totally agree with all pod you and am definitely not going to rush it I have a s10 I drive also so it's not a necessity to get it done asap. I think I'm going to get the head checked by a machine shop also but in order to get the block checked wouldn't it have to come out of the car??

I started it today and about to pull the head as we speak
