Need Your Expert Advice on these Pics

So my EVO has been parked for over a year and a half with the exhaust manifold still on, but during that time, I sold the stock turbo. When I took off the manifold today, this is how it looked in the ports.

What is everyone's opinion of the way the valve's look? A friend of mine I showed it to thinks that it looks ok and will run fine based on the pics, and that the rust and whatever else will burn off but suggest I get some other opinions. Should I take apart the head, get it cleaned up, ported, etc? I was planning to do this later when I got a spare head down the road. I am on a budget since I need to get my car back up and running.

Btw, I am running a fp black this time around with stock motor, if it is decided that it will be ok.

Thanks in Advance!

MCCC (Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner) added DSM style if you are worried about it. I wouldn't be.

Most of that will burn off within minutes. you'll be fine. Or try a cleaner like Spoolinup said.

My old Evo 4 motor sat around for 18 months, so looked kinda like this before we put it in a shell... So we pulled it apart and gave it a quick clean - better safe than sorry with these sorts of things!
