I've been thinking about replacing my block with a 2.4l short block but i was wondering how complicated is it to do it myself..

No offense but if you have to ask this kind of question about an engine swap you probably shouldn't be doing it youself. You will spend more on fixing mistakes and such over just having a shop do it.
There are a lot of threads on the 2.4 swap as it's becoming more popular now. While it isn't that hard there are a few special parts you will need. If you can handle building your own engine and trusting it to hold up you will find that all the info is already on the site.
Good luck with the build, the 2.4 is a great street setup! Sorry if that came off a little harsh.

hahaha learn how? by spending thousand and thousands of dollars??? i say pay once like a shop nd have them do it the RIGHT way, building an engine is a task that needs time, knowledge and precision. Removing it is easy, remembering where everything goes and being organized is another thing, ifyou want to learn do it with a pos car(i learned with a 94 escort) not an expensive car.

thanks for the advice, the reason I ask is because I feel like I was screwed on the last swap that was done.. I paid over $2700 to swap my block and added on some lowering springs.. this time I was thinking maybe I could have a friend who has a background in DSMs to help me out and do it myself and learn some as well...

Agreed. It's not difficult, it's knowing what your doing. Have a profesional do it.

yea thats a wonderful deal most shops charge like 86/hr its crazy I have a 2.4 and I would not dare try it myself. Basic bolt ons is one thing but pulling a whole motor then remembering what goes where is another. Learning on the fly with a 3500 motor is not smart. pay a legit shop to drop it in there so if something goes wrong its on there dime not yours
