Tracking gear shifts

Hello all:

I am interested in tracking gear shifts to enhance boost/traction control.

Are their gear switch solutions available?

Thanks

Hmm, well after 50 views I guess this is an unknown area.

I have a limited approach that I call the upshift boost/traction sequence. It's an add on feature to a boost controller.

Using the tps or the map manifold delta Pressure I can achieve boost control based upon actual SHIFTS.
By tracking the sudden tps change or manifold boost/vac transitions.

Limitation is I can't tell the direction of the shifts so it's only good from the point of view of a pull from stop. Not for the up/downs of traffic or hills.

Works like this: (activated from a button on the dash etc.)
No shift = 1st gear = 1st gear boost limit.
1st shift = 2nd gear= 2nd gear boost limit....and so on.

.
.
.
4 th shift = switch to standard boost control based on tps/rpm maps.

Any thoughts on the usefulness of having this capability? Would U want to have it?

Alternatively a math function of RPM vs VehicleSpeedSensor could do the trick quite well.

Does anyone have an ECU pinout showing the location of the VSS for Evo8 thru 10?
