Weird Turbo Problem

Hey guys need a little help!

I just finished a my stock turbo and o2 housing swap to a fp green and megan o2 housing. I went to test out the new parts and the turbo won't spool. My boost gauge is reading -6 psi max. I got the rpm's up into 4000-5000 to check and the engine is giving me issues, just no boost. So I assume it's a vacuum problem but I double checked all my vacuum and boost lines running to the MBC (hallman) and BOV (synapse) and everything seemed ok. No CEL yet

Has anyone heard of this or have any suggestion on what I could be over looking.

Engine Mods (in case you ask): intake,TBE, ported TB and intake, full intercooler kit, 850cc injectors, larger fuel rail, MBC and BOV
Fully tuned prior to turbo and o2 housing swap

Paul

Bypass the MBC and run a vacuum line straight to the wastegate. Make a pull to see where its at (in your case, low) then tighten. Repeat till you get up to 3-5psi below you're desired boost at peak. If the spring pressure isn't high enough and you have to run too much pre-load eventually you'll be limiting WG arm travel but you'll see that in the boost spiking.

Then hook up you're MBC and set to desired boost.

If youre not getting any boost with the wg line tightened pull off the intake to check the turbo for binding or play..Actually, I would do this first considering its a new turbo.

Also make sure turbo to manifold and manifold to cylinder head gaskets are not leaking....

If not - the WG actuator may not be sealing (path of least resistance, air will go through WG hole if open and not around turbine wheel) - and cause this issue as well.

I would go back over all your work, its probably something very simple to fix.

I'm still confused on if it was a leak from the manifold why would my boost gauge show -6 psi? If it was a leak wouldn't the system at least get out of vacuum and hit 0psi? Or do the numbers really not mean that?

Ok well here is a serious noob question but I need a definite in your face answer, to increase your minimum base boost you adjust the rod/ link to your wastegate clockwise or counterclockwise?!

I made some dumb mistakes with my first swap, so be gentle.

I would do a vacuum/boostleak test to make sure . Because you said your are getting just -6 psi. I would go from there. A switch of an o2 housing wouldnt hold you back from making boost. A ****ty boost controller will though. Reconnect the lines without the boost controller if it gives you your boost back then thats your problem right there.
