I need this infos from some of the engine builders of the forum.
On a JE 86mm pistons set, how much is the typical and common piston measure?
Same question on Wiseco.
I hope that my question is clear, I'm referring to this kind of measurement

Thanks

Because tomorrow I'll go to see and measure an 86mm 4G63 that has some light scuffing sign on cylinder walls. I have to arrange for a piston set that can have a good fit into the cylinders (that will be honed with a professional portable honing tool).

I would ask that everyone use inches for their measurements. As thats what most go by when checking for PTW clearnce. As most piston manufactures list suggested PTW clearnces in inches, example .005in. So you should be measuring the piston in inches anyways.

its simple math to change it to mm.Originally Posted by 3gEclipseTurbo

thank goodness it's not you doing the measurements then...Originally Posted by 3gEclipseTurbo
ya but I dont feel like doing extra math...
There's nothing on the website, and I prefer first hand measurement from experienced engine builders. That's not one of the Fatima's secrets....
I dont want to know the top secret P2W clearance that someone use, I don't need it, I need only the piston measure.

the clearance is built into the piston. a piston that requires more clearance is smaller and the bore stays the same size. je tech told me .001"-.0015" is about the max you want to hone past stock bore or else the rings will have a hard time sealing good and the end gaps start getting wide.
