Thumbs up Almost killed by my cracked HKS manifold! BEWARE!

I have been sick for a couple of weeks now - coughing and weezing in my lungs. I even had to stop at the Emergency room and they gave me a breathing treatment.

I did not know why I was sick - thought it was a cold or allergy.

Tonight, I was sitting at a long light and I started to feel dizzy and nautious. I looked at my hand and it was starting to turn bluish. I pulled over to the side of the road and turned off my car. I nearly passed out. I came to the conclusion that somehow my car was gassing me.

After some inspection - I found that my HKS exhuast manifold had split neatly down the seams and also cracked across the pipe - casuing a serious exhuast leak in the front of the car which was entering the car through the ventalation system

I am posting this as a warning - be careful - if you have this type of HKS manifold - check it carefully - it is deadly and nearly gassed me

Its 4 hours later and I still have a massive head ache

Here are some pics

Another - I know I am not a great photographer - but hopefully you can see where the cracks are - they are hard to show up with the camera - it dosnt focus well up close

Anyone want to buy a slightly used HKS turbo kit ?

You can see the split right down the seam - its a clean break

Glad you're okay, Al. Guess, power comes at a price - will have to watch out for the "side effects". Get better.

God damn! I'm glad you caught it before something even more serious happened! I'm happy to hear you're ok. Tubular header designs are never as strong as cast manifolds- especially when you're running as much power as you are.

Cast is the only rational choice for a manifold that is going to be on the car for more than a few races... Stainless always cracks- just a matter of time.

I think I will be signing up for the Buschur cast manilfold set up - I thought HKS was the tops and would never fail like this - I guess no matter how much you spend its the same story

I am not interested in any law suits - I just hope my lungs clear out and my head ache goes away - - ALSO - i am really interetsed to see if those HKS USA guys are going to stand behind their product - OR if they are going to make excuses and try and blame me ?

Imagine - IF I went 11.505 with a giant crack like that in the manifold - I wonder how fast its going to go when we get that all welded up ???????
