fluid changes

A question and my .02 . I've reading alot of threads on the types of fluid alot of the guys here are putting in their EVO. Some like Royal Purple while others Redline. Also alot say that they will change their tranny and diff fluids every 5-8k. That would get too expensive. I know we drive a very high performance car....heck even Mitsu. say in their little pamphet that to own one of these cars it takes special maintenance. Yet in their service schedule the fluid changes are much more later(mileage wise). Are we getting overboard with the fluid changes intervals? I am going to change my tranny and diff. when I hit 2500. Then after that maybe 20-25K. How about you guys?

Recommended tranny/transfer/diff fluid change intervals are 15k miles.

I plan to do it at least that.

I really recommend doing the first one before then... to get the higher quality fluids in the car, and then you can go longer, because they'll last better than the fluids.

To my knowledge Redline and Royal Purple are both very good products, can't go wrong either way. I would say use whichever one is more easily available to you. I would stick with the Mobil 1 for the engine.

As far as the fluid change intervals, I have always changed them real soon to start (break in period). After that it really depends on your driving habits. If you drive real hard all the time you will need to change alot more often.
