evo drivetrain transplant
evo drivetrain transplant
alright guys, just signed up on here for a bit of advice.
i own a vauxhall astra turbo currently running FWD and about 300bhp, im looking at converting it to 4wd to help get the power down and because the engine is transverse im looking at using evo running gear to do it.
im happy with the fabrication work of fitting it all and mating it up to my current engine, the question i want to ask is will the evo gearbox, and diffs etc... work without all the electrical gubbins like active yaw control connected? does it have a set torque split that it will revert too?
thanks in advance

I have an Astra too USDM Saturn model. Slow but good on gas.
If you were to use a drivetrain out of an 03-04 USDM EVO then you would not have all the electronic bits you mentioned.
No AYC
No ACD

Yea unfortunately all over the pond cars were equipped with the electronic bits. Maybe look for anyone who has imported a USDM car to Europe or see if you can import a drivetrain over. Maybe a little pricey but the project you want to undertake is not a cheap one anyway. GL man
that is not a problem... what you need is the gearbox and transfer box from an old EVO, like Evo 4,5,6, those did not have ACD...
Rear diff, you need a RS diff, which has a plate dif, without AYC....
If I were you, I'd save myself a lot of hassle, and buy an EVO engine also.. sell your vauxhall engine.. 4G63 is a veryy good basis for mega power...

i could buy an EVO engine but then again you could say i should save all the hassle and buy a whole EVO and wheres the fun in that

the vauxhall C20LET is still a good basis for plenty of power and means the car will still be mostly vauxhall
if vauxhall had ever made a good 4WD system id use that too but they didnt so im having to branch out
