Walbro 255HP "High Pressure" too much for stock FPR?

Just ordered this and am now thinking that I should've gotten the 255LPH.
I don't have plans to get an AFPR. Should I worry about it?

Will my stock FPR handle it?

Car is EVO 8 w basic mods

FP White
Cams
Turboback
850cc injectors
Perrin rail

blah blah...

Thanks for the advice.

To clarify, I have a 255lph now that I believe is failing on me.

Why do you say this? What is the FPR at idle? Any signs of slowly leaning AFR values during cruise and WOT pulls?

I'm not sure what the fuel pressure is @ idle.

I've been having problems with running lean at the onset of boost and WOT.
causing serious knock.

I would think it was my wideband sensor going bad if my car wasn't actualy knocking.

My fuel map is pretty much bottomed out and I can only get to 11.8:1 or so.

I thought it was my injectors, so I bought a new set. No change.

My fuel trims are within 3%+/- so I know that the injectors are scaled properly. I've checked every vacuum hose for leaks with no luck.
I just can't get it to run any richer. It's super annoying.

I've noticed lately that the fuel pump doesn;t prime whenI turn to key to ON.

It's loud as hell SOMETIMES. It's very inconsistant. It just doesn't sound good.
And I've had a Walbro in my STI...nowhere near as loud and whiney.

I'm just pretty much hoping that my pump is bad. It would be a cheap and easy fix. Although I know it wont be so easy. Fingers crossed.

Do you have experience with a failed pump. Symptoms?

evos use a relay for idle and cruise so you can run any pump you want and not worry about it being overrun. these arent like dsm's. also the stock FPR on a evo will last you to over 700whp

It's good to hear someone else say that. That's what I think.

It would be so ****ing awesome if that's what the problem is.

I've had this car for about a month and a half. I sold my STI cause i was sick of spending every penny I had on a car that just let me down left and right.

So I bought the EVO... This is problem #3 so far... Whatever....
thanks for the advice man.

Every Walbro I've had has definitely been a bit louder than stock but if there is a super loud whine I'd assume it's on it's last legs.

I live in GR and do not think I have ever seen you around. I have a walboro 255lph in my other car and it is not noisey at all. I will have to keep an eye out for you.
