shifting problems
I was out doing some logging the other day and came across an interesting issue..
i was doing some 1st-4th gear pulls (no launching, rolling in 1st. also, no lift to shift is OFF right now, so i was shifting normally). when i shifted from first to second, butter. i go to shift from second to third, i hit a brick wall. no grinding or noises, just wont go in gear. i held pressure against the shifter/3rd gear, and as the rpm's fell, it eased into gear (didnt just pop in, just slid into gear.. almost like it loosened up with less rpm's).
now, if i roll in second, i can shift to third (or at least it did last time i tried). but when i was doing my logs, it wouldnt go in until the rpm's backed down to around 4500.
i have a quartermaster twin, stock shifter, and the aluminum shift bearings. its a hydraulic tob, so i cant adjust that.. any other ideas? i was thinking bent shift fork, but then how could i shift from 1st to second at rpm <7000?
simple (probably stupid issue), but i dont understand how i sometimes get locked out of the gate, and other times it glides in like butter. do i need a shift fork stopper with this clutch..?
