so do you guys think Utec will be better than EMS?
as far as for stock evo or turbo modified turbo/fuel?

thanks for all input.

planning to change bigger turbo next year, EMS is my first choice, this is first time i heard about the UTEC.

I think you'll always see better results with a stand-alone but if your state's emissions require OBDII scans (Like mine), you really must look towards piggyback style systems.

dude you don't want UTEC. Unless you plan to go to Agile at lease once every 2 weeks to be dyno tuned.

From what I understand, the Evo's ECU doesn't fight modifications as fiercely as the WRX's.

It seems like a decent product ! But I am starting to see a lot of competition on these expensive systems - the $1,000 price area is already quite crowded - autronic, AEM EMS, Exede w/ flash and others like the Apexi and other JDM options

IMHO - I would think carefully if I were going to tread into those waters

The concept of my reflash option is you get 95% of the performance potential of any stand alone option with ZERO hassel - zero learning curve and zero pronblems at a much cheper price - starts at $199.99.

Of course for someone looking to make weekly changes a emanage or safc will be handy on top of the reflash - OR - if you want to get hard core the above choices will be calling your name

I have yet to try the new game boy equiped Utec - but Tx's always makes great products so I am sure it will be a winner

Right now I am playing with the AEM EMS which is a really top notch unit and something i really enjoy working with. Of course - I wouldn't recomend it unless you want to spend a few weeks dialing in all the complicated features.

I am excited to see how the UTEC fares and how it works - I will order one for sure just to try and out and I can tune them on my clinet's cars if needed

One thing I have found out so far - I hate the autronic and really dont like the way it works

I can't wait to see what this thing will really have.. I've been putting off putting my S-AFC and S-AVCR back into my car until I see what the Utec is cpable of..

I'd certainly prefer a complete standalone.. but TXS has been billing this thing as a standalone that passes through the mundane stuff.. It'll be interesting if it bypasses enough "stuff" to eliminate the need for reflashing the ECU for RPM limits and Fuel/Boost and speed cut.. I can see in theory how it could work to dothat sucessfully especially if it takes over the function of the ECU for some of those tasks and sends its own info back to the stock ECU..

But, We'll wait and see.. The ONLY reason I'm biased towards the UTEC over something such as the AEM, is the potential issues with car inspections, which require an OBD-II check to pass. I'm sure someone will come out with an emulator some day to give OBDII functionality to a standalone, or even just "enough info" to pass an inspection.

We'll see.. We'll see.. I've been periodically mailing TXS back and forth, their pretty tight-lipped about the product and wouldn't even tell me much about it until after they introduced it at SEMA.

We have never published an exact release date for the UTEC. The date of the 25th is bogus, and I am not sure where it came from. The most accurate and up to date information on this product is always going to come from our website.

I am quite confident that when we are finished tweaking the design of the UTEC (both hardware and software) you guys will be please with the results. However, I don’t want to release a product before it’s ready, and it’s still little bit away.

Lastly, we spent a great deal of effort getting our wide band 02 data logging pack out before the year so we can now concentrate solely on finishing the EVO UTEC.

You read my mind. If it doesn't allow us to eliminate fuel cut and play with the rev limiter, it isn't worth much more than an SAFCII (Other than being able to make changes to timing).
