I put mine right underneath in the middle of the upper intercooler pipe I look my stuff hidden plus it looks better no wires or a ait senor sticking up..You have to spice in your ecu harness for the ait sensor hope you know this??

If you don't wanna spice in the ecu harness matt at spooling up.com just made a plug and play harness for it no cuting or spicing for $100 bucks but it's up to you it's only one wire and it's hidden..

Its a bit pricey, Its more time and effort than a regular tune. As well as you have to retune it every time the weather changes. So approx. like every 4 months. That ofcourse will add $$$$$ up fast

Don't spread false information

Why would you need a retune when weather changes?

To the OP, alot of shops do not tune for SD because it is very time consuming. If your tuner does, then go for it. Don't think you will slap on a $150 kit and you are good to go. Ask your tuner how much it will cost to tune for it, I bet it will be alot more.

+1

There is no reason to retune. Your adding a temp sensor and the map will be able to compensate for different temperatures. The only issue is that your removing the baro sensor which would make for rich starts at high altitude.

I put together a GT35R (AFI Turbo) kit for my 03' evo 8 and I was looking into speed density because I like the clean look of the engine bay and using the 4" intake pipe with no restrictive MAF.

However, when I found out that my tuner was going to require more time to tune it. I decided to get a used AEM 1313U (uego) and 4" JMF intake pipe with filter ($150).

1. More money $$ to tune at $160/hr.
2. Quoted elevation issue if you ever take your evo on trips (controversial)?

For between $700-$900 you get the AEM ems and sensors from evolutionm.
1. You can subtract the cost of the Tantrix cable ($100-$150), speed density kit ($125).
2. 4" intake pipe is cheaper, cleaner look, and easier to install than the MAF piping.
3. AEM serial guage instead of a wideband: easier to install ( plugs into ems and uses ems O2 sensor) allows you to switch instantly to other things like EGT ect.
4. This saves you money on buying extra gauges, trying to figure out where to put them, and no A pillar pod to attract thieves to break your window for your gauges (Autometer dual steering column pod to hold 2 guages).

For all these reasons of cleaner look and the more options in tuning with the AEM ems. I do not think you can go wrong. It might cost you a little more up front buying the AEM ems, but in the long run it will be a better setup.

I just found out that my MAF sensor has gone bad. My car is completely stock except for an ARC intake. There are no tuners on Guam, the weather is the same all year so can I do this mod?
