I'm referencing 2 sensors. Crank angle sensor/crank positions sensor and cam angle sensor.

Ok i had this exact issue, check my threads,

I was doing pulls in my car, it bogged backfired and shut off, i had to tow it home, i tried replacing CAM/Crank angle sensors AFM, cooler pipes etc nothing,

I finally figured it out, on the edge of the exhaust cam there is a plate that covers the Cam Trigger for the Cam Angle Sensor which is held on by a bolt, this was loose and the trigger was moving around, retightened this bolt and the car fired right up,

Hope this helps

Towed her home about .5 miles down the road. Pulled codes the next day it had p0335 and p0340 witch made me think timing belt had jumped a tooth. After clearing the codes and trying to start it only throws p0340 Cam Angle sensor. The car now has new timing belt and belt tensioner new crank angle sensor and as well a new cam angle sensor. The car still wont start all my timing marks are spot on. still throwing p0340 cam angle with the new sensor. Ive searched and tried everything that every one else has done like such as starter ground and other bs. Please please help!!!!!!
Check the cas trigger. If its still giving the p0340 code make sure the cas trigger is seated and set properly when you set your timing. More than glad to help and if you can bring it down here we can fix it for you.

You are right MOST of the time. We actually fixed a car where this wasn't the case and the car actually started then idling like crap and died after 10 mins everytime. Ended up being the crank sensor and the potting around the sensor had been cracked slightly causing it to go crazy after 10 mins. Replaced it and the car ran like a champ.

you can still crank the car, it wont let you run gas and spark.

I don't think the car would start at all if the cas was shot.

I had this problem with my Evo 4 swap check your ECM there's a signal that's suppose to fire 1 and 4 at the coil pack connector . I'll check the wiring diagram and let you know exactly which pin to check.

I have this same problem right now but I'm getting spark on 1 & 4 but no spark on 2 & 3. I've changed my cam position sensor with a good one and still no spark. What bolt are you talking about being lose?

its on the end of the cam shaft on the cam angle side its holds a barrel in that the cam angle sensor picks up on. Stupid mitu didnt reverse thread it so it backs out after time. the actual bolt is behind a plate with 3 10mm on it

Yeah that's not my problem. I'm going to replace my Crank shaft position sensor and trigger wheel. I've tried everything and messed with thr crank sensor and now have no spark. I even tried a different ECU and it didn't help. I hope the sensor fixes my problem
