I'm gonna be swapping cams out soon for a new setup. I can't make up my mind on what cams to get. I don't wanna get something to big and have a bad power curve. I want something that will give a good power increase in mid to top end power. I want the thing to keep pulling

The cams I been looking at are:
GSC S2's
Kelford 280/276 combo
Cosworth M2 or M3

The car will be on fp black turbo with all supporting mods on pump gas

Which fp cams? I kinda wanna do thr fp5r's but can I just drop them in a stock head with springs and retainers?

 

fp4r is an awsome cam

 

You will need springs and retainers to run the 5r's. I believe the 4r's as well, but as I've never used them I couldn't say for sure. I would suggest the 4r's or S2's. They both give benefits in the mid and top end and don't loose alot on the bottom. I like my 5r's alot, they sound really mean, have no track record of snapping (very important to me) and they make great power up top.

 

Talk to Aron@ER(JohnBradley) he tuned a car with GSC S2's that lost no spool up and gained some good mid/top-end(boostedwrx's car)...I say you talk to him, from my experiences he goes above and beyond what other people do to help you get the most out of the cams.

 

I'm rocking S2s, I noticed a small loss in low end but the car pulls hard from mid all the way till the turbo runs out of air.

 

I would say go with he S2's the have shown time again that they are a good set of cams. The power that they make is one of the best out there. The FP cams are a good set of cams but they are a bit expansive. If price is not an issue than go with the FP cams, if not get the S2's. Either set you get will be a great pick.

 

S2's don't need springs/retainers. They will give you a nice mid range power

 

Actually, I believe springs/retainers are recommended for S2's.

 

I'll be rocking S3's with an fp black, but only cause I'm build ing the motor completely, however when I had a stock bottom I had no complaints with the kelford 272's with supertech dual valve springs and retainers, just remember when selecting cams do select proper valve springs and retainers to match ur cam setup so that your able to rev higher.

Yes they do if you want to see the full potential of them, if you dont upgrade the valvetrain you will not be able to rev as high as they were meant to be used.

 

i dont care about the springs retainers thing. thats not gonna make me change my mind as i already have them sitting in my room.

the more i look, the more im leaning towards the fp4r cam
anyone know the specs? the specs on the website arent like the normal cam specs you see on all the other cams and frankly i dont know how to read that sheet.lol
