Poll: Do you smell gas in your oil?

Guys can you please either pop open the oil cap or take out the dipstick and see if you smell gas in your oil? I'm curious because someone recently posted that if you smell gas in your oil then you may have a weak motor and high hydrocarbons levels due to breaking in the car with the factory synthetic oil. FYI I can smell some gas in my oil but I think it's because the car runs very rich and has minor blowby which is normal. Then again I'm no expert so I'm posting this to see some results and opinions.

I'm pretty sure it's normal for a turbo car to exhibit this.

my car seems to run fine if you ask me, car was broke in with Mobil 1 factory fill, I think the guys in Japan know what they are doing after 11 years of making an Evo, I wouldnt really worry about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Evo8 the first Evo to come from factory w/ synthetic oil?

Should add "broke it in hard or gentle?" options to choices of poll, that would remove another variable

just my opnion, but how do you know that mitsu even puts synthetic in at the factory?is it because the oil cap states that
you should use mobil 1.Is it possible that the factory knows a little bit and perhaps puts just regular oil in at factory(for break in) and has the end user(you) switch over to mobil 1 at 1st oil change.Just pondering this.

I've wondered that too, though they do call it a "factory fill"

This is completely normal for turbo cars.

frpm the pressure in the cylinders and the fuel blowwing by the rings...

It happens there are minor clearances that allow this fuel to get by the pistons and into the oil.

I'm thinking it's normal too but from looking at the votes, some
people don't smell gas in their oil. Question for those people:
did you change the oil recently? Also for those that smell gas
in your oil, did any of you dyno your car stock?

With synthetic oil you will get blowby which is normal. I smelt gas in my oil after my first oil change at 1200miles. Now I checked it and do not smell any gas now.

okay so we are hearing that it's normal, but what problems or damage can be / are caused by gasoline mixing in with the fuel?

now is the time to start correlating hp/torque figures with gas blowby.

If you done dyno runs please post your numbers AND which dyno, temperature, humidity and number of runs.
