also makes me nervous, are the stock bearings ok on a stock-like DD evo that takes a few beatings or should we be changing them out for something else asap (asking because i have been seeing this a lot)

Does sound like oil supply issue. Sorry to hear!
I now keep my eyes on the oil press gauge like a hawk.

Sucky Like I told you when I was on the way to Wichita, I'd put some money on the oil pump.

Wow - bad luck, but good luck too (seeing as you were at AWD). Why did you choose to do a 2.4L instead of a 2.3L ?

If your block is hammered and not usable as a core, 2.4 is the only way to go.

Thanks for the great review given the circumstances of your car.. The 2.4L is a great option for anyone who has lost the good 4g63 crank or block as core.. This saves a bunch of $$ in core charge.. 90% of guys dont need 8000+ RPM the 2.0L provides.. a 2.4L also makes more power all day long.. In race setups we have seen as much as 100whp difference at the same boost levels and same turbo setup from 2.0 to 2.4L.. no replacement for displacement..
