is this ok to be done?

in example, gsc beehives and stock retainers.

why? especially when everything is opened up, plus you want to be safer, no?

Yes you can use the gsc bee hive springs on stock retainers. Lots of people do it

I would do a full kit for added safety and you'll have the safety of revving the life out of it without having valve float or flutter..

Yep. I have the beehives with stock retainers, and I personally recommend the stock retainers, since at least some titanium retainers are made from inferior material and are therefore a wear item.

Very valid point. Stick with a known manufacturer with proven product and never short cut. You will save money doing it proper in the first place in the long run.

It depends on what kit you choose I would only use supertech's ,gsc,or kiggly's they make the best kits available..

i dont plan on revving the crap out of my motor or even tracking it even once in its lifetime.

hopefully stock retainers will be ok.

FYI...the stock retainers are just as light as the titanium ones.

I would just reuse the stock ones but with 'new' oem retainer locks.

GSC's 5039 kit was *made* to be run with the stock seats/retainers. I put like 20k miles on mine, rev'd the stock bottom end to 8200 on Kelford272's. For the money on the stock bottom end, it cannot be beat!

Honestly? good god man retains are cheap as hell....you REALLY want to stick with stock retainers? not calling you cheap...but if the shoe fits......

well the thing is that its not me, its the shop im going through recommends stock retainers, i was just skeptic.

i wanted opinions.

Honestly, titanium retainers are a pretty pointless mod unless you're building a purpose built track car that'll be spending most of it's time at 7K+ rpm.
