AMS underhood shifter bushing install question

Sorry, this may be a silly question, but I didn't see anything specific to this in my searches...

I just installed the AMS underhood shifter bushings, and I noticed that there was a bit of a gap between the bushing and the cotter pin after installing the bushings, so I put the stock washer in place before putting the cotter pin back in. Was I supposed to put the stock washer back on to make the fit a little tighter, or just leave it with a bit of a gap? All of the pictures i have seen of the bushing installs, show the nice clean bushing only, but I don't know if it is ok to have that little "wiggle room" on the bushing or if it should be a tight fit with the bushing alone.

I would normally go straight to the AMS guys, but its a little late...

Just looking for a bit of direction from you guys that have done this before.

Thanks in advance.

For the record, the shifting is crazy smooth after the install, fixed my sticking problems.

I took the washers off and the shifting feels just as good. I think it makes sense to leave the washers off, since the purpose of the bushings is that the aluminum will not compress laterally like the rubber did, so as long as the integrity of the bushing itself is solid, the gap to the cotter pin should be irrelevant.

OK, final update.

I just spoke with the guys at AMS and the washers should be left on in the same position as they were on the stock bushings. I'll be putting the washers back on as soon as I get back home. Hopefully this helps.
