Oil Choice *SEARCHED*

Ok I have searched through 50+ pages and found very little useful info. I am stock turbo (for now) have normal bolt-ons (cams, exhaust, etc.) I beat on my car very rarely, just a lot of ghey hondas around. I live in Mid-Tenn where the winter gets into the mid low teens, I DO NOT DD my car. I want to stay with Mobil 1. Should I stick to my 5-30? I have heard that Mobil 1 0w-40 is good. What about the Valvoline VR1, which is best suited for me? Thanks

I use amsoil sso 0w30 because i'm in mn we get to -30ish sometimes with wind chill. Plus someone ran their sso to 12k miles and then did a test and came back good so i'll continue to run this stuff.

It would be good for when you upgrade the turbo like u said also if u DD or any other mod to the motor IE cams rods pistons the thicker motor oil helps especially if ur always flooring it

You could use low weight Brad Penn products which have the zinc and phosphorus like the VR1 and Amsoil dominator oils but seem to be more cost effective. If you can find it. Don't run these if you are using a cat. Apparently they degrade the cat rather quickly.

Vr1 came up short the zinc and molly test they claimed something around 1300 and it had only 980..The r.p has almost 1,400 zinc high in molly and a=easy to buy from advanced or you can just use the plain non motorcycle 0w40 which has 1,200 zinc and a nice amount of molly.

Royal purple is r.p. the 0w40 has less zinc in it then the 10w40..as far as the bbk I would think the same rules apply as the fp turbos there both j.b.
