Air to Water on a drag car?

Has anyone tried using a air to water intercooler? I've only seen a handfull of evos with this style of intercooler. I know people are making air to air work just fine and 90% of the people on the board are catalog shoppers but I want to do something different.

If its just a drag car why not,.. if not just get a 4"-6" IC and youll be fine.

But if you do run water-air,.. post pics!

What is the reason you want to go water-air? Honestly theres no reason to go water-air unless you don't have the room, plus its a heavier system

A number of DSM and Evo drag focused cars use water to air intercoolers.

The simple reason is that water to air intercoolers can provide intake temperatures LOWER than ambient, and sometimes markedly lower. You can't do that with an air-to-air...

I ran an air/water setup on my DSM and it is a PIA on the street. Once the water becomes hot it is easier to drain the water and refill with air temp water to cool everything down . The system will over flow trying to cool the water by adding ice. It will only stay cool for a short period even if you are not runni9ng the car hard. The worst part is if you keep the system filled you need to run an additive or anti-freeze to prevent corrosion inside your IC and heat exchanger. Also the fluctuation in you IATs also requires a lot more tuning because you see extreme temps on both ends of the spectrum.

Much better off with an Air/Air cooler on a street car.

IMO their is not point on a street car, so so soooooo much hassel....IMO air to waters are better suited on cars like MR2's were cooling Charge temps is more of an issue.
