Hey guys, I purchased a 2nd hand aftermarket o2 housing, it is supposed to be a Megan.

I have a doubt regarding the size of the little hole that mates the wastegate and the exhaust side of the o2 housing, I've done quite a bit of reading and now that if the size is of the hole is too small it can cause boost creep and I don't want that...

My question is what size is good to avoid creep? the size on mine is somewhere around 1.5 - 1.6" is this size ok or how big should I go?

Port it open a bit to remove the lip on the right side of the opening in the last picture. The actual opening size is fine, but removing that lip will help cut down on turbulence.

 

Its hard to tell from the pics but it doesnt look like a very smooth flowing housing!

 

That thing is an abomination. Heck I've seen other cheapo EBAY one with way better quality then that.

 

as kracka said you need open that hole up, not just for flow but as your suspecting you may get boost creep. i have first hand experience with certain megan o2 causing boost creep. maybe you can dremel it out.

megan o2's are a hit or miss, some are made better then others. can you return it?

 

I'm porting the exhaust manifold, turbo hotside and also was planning to get the o2 housing done to remove the excess metal on the welds etc, so don't worry about that... I know it looks like crap

My concern was about the size of the hole, I believed it was too small and dont want to have to change it after it is already on the car.

 

Sell it and buy a Shearer 3" o2 housing.

 

It does look a little rough but you may be able to blend some of the transitions.
