you would not get any spark.. the car would not fire up. is it not starting?

im not positive , but i believe you dont get any fuel also.

I went throught this nightmare a few weeks ago and for about 4 days changed everything i could think of and in the end was just a stupid short in the signal wire to the crank sensor.. i was told by everyone with evo experience that crank sensors dont go bad often, I finally believe it. what does go bad often are the cam angle sensors which is the one on the front of the head.

only 1 cyl firing is super odd.

i had a crank angle sensor die and it only fired on 1 and 2. it's because the waveform goes to ****, and it doesn't know where to fire correctly. Try swapping over the intake and exhaust cam angle sensors and see if it will start.

(will evo9's start with no mivec cam angle sensor plugged in?)

When a magical broken bolt managed to teleport into my lower timing cover and destroy everything, I had no power at the fuel pump or ignition.

If it's your crank angle sensor you won't get spark nor fuel.

Had my timing belt tensioner pulley let go at 40k miles and the ball bearings destroyed the sensor.

no spark or fuel. the intake and exhaust cam sensors are different somehow, i had swapped those over and the motor threw a code and shut off after running a few seconds, swapped them back and ran smooth as butter.. they look identical dunno why that happened.

the fact that 1 cyl is working means the signal is properly getting to the ecu, so you might have a bad cam sensor.. if not that then go after than crank sensor.

I don't believe the cam angle sensors themselves are any different. They have the same part number and look identical. You should be able to swap them.
