MIVEC versus non-MIVEC dyno charts (stock/mild mods)?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to find out how much of a difference MIVEC makes on reasonably stock setups. I know it's hard to contain all the variables (turbo, supporting mods, etc.) but have been searching around for some dyno comparisons without much luck.

If you have any links to threads containing dyno results where I can see how the low end response and spool-up are different for MIVEC versus non-MIVEC setups, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

you cant really compare the 2 unless you have a VIII or switched over to mivec and nothing else....but of course mivec helps

I have to admit I'm surprised that this topic isn't of greater interest to 4G63 powered enthusiasts since it would seem (to me) that there could be considerable benefit from using a MIVEC equipped 4G63 as the basis of ones project. I continue to search around but it seems the nearly stock Evo 9 dyno charts I've seen have pointed more to the presence of more low end torque than anything else. I'll try to locate some bone stock Evo 8 and Evo 9 charts so that I can really compare some hard numbers.

Yes, I do certainly understand that an apples to apples comparison isn't likely due to the other changes that took place between the MIVEC and non-MIVEC engines. It would seem that comparing them on cars that are equipped with aftermarket turbos such as the CBRD BBK Full might actually be easier, but of course the mods between cars will always be somewhat of a factor.

I'll keep looking around. Thanks for your reply just the same.

I would try to find an Evo 8 with an Evo 9 turbo, intake, TBE, and a tune. Then find a 9 with same mods and a tune. I have those mods but I do not have a Evo 9 turbo. On my 2003 Evo 8 GSR, I'm putting down 300awhp on stock fuel pump.

Thanks guys. This thread seems to be about as good as any I can find related to my question at hand.

What I would like to see is a dyno graph of a IX on a tune where the mivec wasn't touched and then a dyno after they adjusted the mivec.

To me that's how you would be able to see the benifits of mivec.

I'm at 400/400 on stock turbo and cams on E85 and the mivec has never been touched. What would be the benifits for me to get the mivec tuned?
