Had you clearly stated in your first post that the issue was for a DSM 3g I probably would not have even responded LOL, that said you still fail to understand why and how to select a tstat. Even for a 3g, you should get the proper tstat, and if you get one that opens at lower temperature, your car will run cooler (too cool) and you will likely be hurting performance and longevity of the motor.

The good news is with all this you hopefully have learned something and the fix is cheap. Best of luck with the car....

Actual the "fix" was free as I already have the evo8 oem tstat that came with my evo8 head.

And I have not driven on the highway at a constant 3k where the overheating was the worst. And I wouldnt consider it fixed untill its 90's out again and I dont have overheating problems.

well for the future, I heard that Mishimoto is coming out with a street version of this tstat that will open around 68-70 C which would be MUCH better for street cars with full size radiators. I forget which forum I heard this on, but I'm sure Mishimoto will release it soon! Keep an eye out!
