im in need of an exedy twin hd and was running it through my never ending thoughts of buying a used and rebuilding it

a wise man once told me clutches were like condoms, use them and toss them haha was wondering if this was accurate on twin and triples

if you can get it for less then 400 then i say its worth it..as vendors are selling them new for as low as 1400. If you buy a used one it will basically be 95% brand new after rebuild. Resurfaced flywheel,Two new clutches, floater plate, pressure plate, tob, wave washer/retaining clip..the only thing thats not new is the cover and that doesnt not matter what so ever. you should be able to get all those parts through a vendor for less then 900.

So basically if you can get used flywheel and cover for less then 400 its worth it.. if not just ask a bunch of vendors till you find the lowest price.. as i said before i was quoted as low as 1400 shipped. i ended up just doing a rebuild when i found a cheap used and a good price from MAP on all the parts.

good luck

It depends on the purchase price.

Its all about the deal and then what you pay for the parts to rebuild it. Going from a twin to a triple is expensive the first time but not bad after that.

All rebuilds will also most likely need the floater ring under the pressure plate (PP02 I believe) in addition to new friction.

i scrapped the idea of a twin and am going straight for a triple right of the bat so i wont have any issues of it not holding the power

in most power goals a triple is to much the exedy twin can hold a ton of power and easier on the foot. Mine is used on I bought then sent it to strictly modified for a complete overhaul to make it brand new status 630 for all new parts dics pressure plate etc. I bought the clutch off ebay for 380 shipped so 1010 for a brand new in the game clutch installed rode on easy for 1000 miles then taken to dyno to lay down 584whp and not even consider slipping more power to come I say buy use send to honest shop like strictly modified let them fully inspect and rebuild with all parts you need

IMO Twin is a solid clutch, but for the original purchase price...the twin and triple aren't THAT far off. About 400 bux more for a triple right off the bat,,then you know your good to go

workout city for you boss. how much power are you making now?? do you have built motor anywho to take advantage of more power because if your not going down that route for awhile no since in getting a triple thats overkill and again a twin can hold alot of tq you will be surprised

Not to jack the OP's thread but Aaron I have an important question and I feel the rest of the community would benefit if it was public:

I was told that Exedy triple clutch is harder on the transmission then say a twin. Is this true? and If so, how much worse is it on the transmission? Ive experienced my clutch slip already, so i know im reaching the limits on my twin.
