Apexi S-AFC II or Turboback exhaust

Hello all. I was trying to decide which mod I should do first and was wondering if you guys could give me your opinion. First, I was thinking about getting an Apexi S-AFC II from Buschur (who preloads it with Evo specific information) or a Buschur turbo back exhaust system. I have read in magazines that the addition of an AFC adds as much as 20whp. Likewise, I have heard similiar claims by adding a turbo back exhaust (with high flow cat). The price for an AFC with harness is around $500, if I'm not mistaken. The price of the Buschur turboback is $900, not including shipping or installation. So my question to you guys is which mod you'd recommend doing first. Thanks for your time!

By the way, I already have an AEM intake on the way.

I'd go with the turboback.

I have an SAFC II (Without any preliminary settings) and an AEM intake sitting on the floor.

Why?

Because I'm waiting to get a few bolt-ons on first to get it dynotuned (I'm going to order a Buschur turboback, boost controller, and fuel pump before installing it).

We have the turbo back in the JDM style on sale through the 1st of the year right now for $695, this includes the downpipe, offroad pipe, catback and the 3 SS band clamps you need. Other hardware is of course included too.

David, thanks for taking the time to respond. Could I get that deal with a high flow cat instad of a delete pipe? I'd rather stay legit as far as that's concerned. Thanks.

Orion981,

I am also thinking along the same lines as you. My three options for 1st mods were: Buschur TB exhaust ( I also want the high flow cat), SAFC (since car runs pig rich), or EVO Ecomomy Kit from Buschur. I also toyed with just buying the Buschur 2.5 inch downpipe and muffler delete and adding MBC.

David,
I am also interested in TB exhaust with high flow cat. Any deals on it.

Gumpy.

Gumpy,
As far as I see it, those seem to be the best three mods (what's the economy package?). I'd definitely like to lean up the fuel mixture a little, since we do run so rich. But at the same time I want to give the turbo some more breathing room, and get an authoritative sound to boot.
As for getting a delete pipe, I'd personally recommend not doing it. I've heard more bad things about it than good (causes exhaust to smell really bad, even from inside the car; can get you into big trouble with the cops -- impound your car and fine you up to 10K; really loud). For a few extra horses, it's just not worth it for me. As for getting a mbc, I guess I'll just hold out and get a ebc, preferably the HKS one. I know it's a lot more expenseive, but I am dreaming of one day getting a new turbo, so I'd like to know I have the liberty of adjusting the boost. Plus, if I pull up next to a Camero or something, I can always just switch that baby up to 22 psi!
As for David, if you could give me that deal (with a high flow cat) you've got yourself a sale. Btw, what's shipping cost on that? I live in California.

Orion981,
The Evo Ecomomy package consists of Buschur's 2.5 inch downpipe, 2.5 inch muffler delete pipe, MBC, Short ram intake, and SAFC with pre-set paramaters for this package. Then web site says that it is worth 275 to 300whp. It seems reasonable as one person on here posted a 1/4 mile time in the 12's. My only concession is should I ever be hungry for more power (we always want more), the 2.5 inch exhaust limits future power output. I am not crazy about the JDM style of an angled muffler with the 3inch exhaust that is on sale though.

Dave,
Do you have any pics of the JDM style exhaust. I could not find them on your site.

In my opinion a boost controller should be the first mod you get (aside from a boost gauge of course). You will notice a big difference in holding the boost at 19.5 instead if having it drop down to 16.5 like it does stock. I have an SAFC2 now and although it does pull more in the top end, it wasnt as noticeable a mod as the bc. Besides the safc with br settings are designed for use with all the supporting mods (intake, exhaust). Needless to say I will be purchasing a tb exhaust next. Why tb? because I like to plan for all contingences.
