Oil leak from head gasket... how????

Hey guys, is it possible to have an oil leak from the HG even though the compression check is OK? It is a Tomei HG with ARP head bolts. I have oil leaking out what seems to be coming from the HG. It looks to be coming out in a pretty good amount (not enough for the oil dipstick to notice too bad) on the corner. But when I check the rest of the block, there seems to be covered in oil. I did clean the block completely but a week later it is covered.

I was thinking the HG needs to be tightened down more? Maybe its just F*** up? When I went to the garage they told me that when the head came off, one of the stock head bolts broke. They didn't tell me how (hard to get a complete translation from Japanese to English), but I take it they took the block to a machine shop to take it out. I boost find and again the compression is good....... I just don't know.

Any thoughts?

I would just check your headstuds pop the valve cover off simple just like 14 or so 10mm bolts Just make sure your head stud nuts are not backed off. Vibration could wiggle them loose if they were not torqued properly

I haven't looked at my manual yet but the studs should be reachable and easy to get to, right? I hate to compare it to the SR but with that motor, the cams have to come off before you can see the studs.....

I can get them no problem with cams in. Literally just pop off valve cover gasket and retorque in the correct sequence to make sure they haven't moved.

Yes very easy to get to ive taken my Evo 8 Head off with cams still intact. I know your pain with sr20 too. But that motor vs this motor i would rather work on a sr20 much easier to remove and get to things on the motor
