Have you installed the turbo onto the exhaust manifold flange yet? Be sure to prime the turbo with oil first before firing the engine up after you do install said Blackie onto your exhaust manifold.

I guess that all of the Blackies come with the upgraded oil feed line from FP. So, my suggestion is to prime the turbo with oil before firing the engine up.

I installed a Red onto my Evo recently and what I did was the following. Change out crankcase oil to FP recommended grade. Before firing the engine up just click the starter off and on until the oil pressure light on your dash goes out.....Then start the engine.

As for the noise you hear when dinking with the shaft....I wouldn't worry about it. But, if you are concerned then call FP technical support!

i haven't installed yet, i was thinking about using the old 8 turbo breakin my new motor then installed the black after because of the whole regular oil to syn oil theory , about priming, my idea was to take the turbo drain out, crank little by little until i see oil coming out, yeap, about the noise i think its normal also, man i just cant wait to put this on!

fp pre packs the turbo with special lube/grease so you dont need to prime it, although i did anyways. just make sure to run either brad penn or amsoil and you will love that turbo.

shouldnt be making no hiss noise tho it should have white grease / slime looking stuff in it. does it?

disconnect the crank angle sensor plug ( near the FPR) and you can crank unlimited because there will be no spark/fuel.. thats how i always prime. then i try to turn over about 6-10 times and call it good.

I like your methodology tscomp. I should have PMed you before firing up my Red. You are right on.,,,, I just don't want the OP to keep spinning the center section dry that's all. Do as tscomp says. It'll be OK!
