reverse light trigger

i tried searching with no results

does any one know where the switch/trigger for the reverse lights is located?

my problem is that when i go into reverse, my reverse lights wont turn on sometimes. i usually have to wiggle the shifter or pop it back to neutral and back to reverse a few times until they actually turn on.

let me know if anyone has had to deal with this or knows what i can to do fix it. im guessing the switch is just loose and not getting triggered. or maybe going out or something.

let me know what you guys think

it should be located somewhere near the top of the trans. you should be able to see it if you move the uicp and/or take out the battery

heres what the switch itself looks like

I'm having the same issue but I cannot find where this damn back-up light connector is. All I could find was the speed sensor on the top of the trans.

HELP!!!

Just placed an order for this with Russell at Mitsubishiparts.net.

Backup Light Switch
Part# MN132387 - Switch,m/t Gearsh

Total shipped to me in New Jersey via Ground is $29.41.

Unfortunately, it's going to take about a week for the part to get to Russell in Washington and another 3-4 days to get to me in Jersey, so I'm looking at a 2 week lead time. I guess it could be worse! hah!

Yup! This fixed the problem! Unplug, take old sensor out, install new sensor, plug in. Voila! All you need to do is snug it up. Doesn't need to be super tight. (that's what she said)

Thanks for the reply, do you mind me asking how you found the part number? I am looking for one for an evo 4-6.

Russell @ Mitsubishiparts.net

He's a vendor on here so you can contact him via PM or give his dealership a call. The phone number will be on the website.
