Should I upgrade my BOV?

Hello guys,

I've been told that the EVO 9 BOV works great. However, now that I upgraded to FP Red I was wondering if I should upgrade the BOV too? If so, which one would you recommend? I was told that I should get a turbosmart.

Thanks in advace!

I am quite certain the stock IX one is up to the task with a red.

It's hit and miss unfortunately.
Some leak at 23psi, some hold 28 no dramas.
Throw a boost leak tester on and see how you go.

do a gus mod and crush the bov should be fine. I don't like using the stock bov over 25-27psi. When you do upgrade only do it once and get a TurboSmart 50mm or Tial 50mm.

You might want to first try slightly crushing your existing stock, metal DV, as BLKCarbonEVO has advised, before spending money needlessly on some aftermarket blingo valve. since it won't cost you a cent to try.

Here is a link about Gus Mod. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...it-mr-bov.html
You crush it by putting the whole BOV in a vice and slowing crush the top of the BOV (you want it in the vice crushing top/bottom, not sideways. lol). Just crush it till the top vacum pipe stops the top of the BOV from Crushing anymore.

Hope that makes since. There are a lot of good reads about crusing the bov and doing a gus mod. Just search

+1 on responses. The stock one is the best out there for driveability. I have the Turbosmart and it is great for response and holding boost. I still use the stock one in the winter though when I'm not running 30psi.

I have heard that the dual tends to leak. The only turbosmart that I like the is 50mm vta. I actually prefer that over the Tial However if you are looking for a recir I have the synapse is really nice.

I had the turbosmart and it sort of blew up on me, the spring came apart on it...so I got an APS Twin Vent(best recirc. IMO), then I switched to the Tial Q BOV
