CVT -> TC-SST Tranny swap

Can someone possibly describe what would be involved in taking a CVT tranny Lancer, and swapping out the CVT tranny for a TC-SST Evo transmission? How difficult would the wiring be to get the computer to work out? For instance the CVT displays the gear, either D or 1, 2, 3 ,4, 5, 6. I'm wondering if it would be possible for the computer to be wired for the TC-SST easily, or if the sensors are more complicated than a simple wire matching process.

I actually have the 2011 AWD Outlander Sport with CVT, but I believe the transmission is the same as was placed on the CVT Lancer.

I have heard those CVTs cannot handle much power at all, and I am very interested in turbocharging the vehicle, so a big barrier exists for me. I am very interested in learning about a possible TC-SST swap if this is possible.

Thanks guys

I dont see how you would do it, because one is an awd vehicle and the other is fwd. Honestly I know this isn't the answer you want to hear- but youd be better off buying an evo. (this is coming from someone who is converting a mirage to an evo at the moment)

Wait a second. I believe for the sake of confusion on this issue, I should ditch the FWD Lancer from the discussion.

Let's start here:

The EVO is AWD.

My Outlander Sport is AWD. It is actually selectable. FWD->AWD->DIFF Locked AWD.

So could the AWD EVO tranny be bolted on my AWD Outlander Sport without mounting issues? I guess I will start there, then talk about possible computer issues that would be involved.

you should probably start by posting this in the correct forum.

no one is going to be able to tell you if its easy or not all your going to get from people is that its not possible and its going to cost alot of money blah blah blah...

if you want it done then it can be done, how much it will cost no on can really tell you, you have to be the first and actually try.

I seriously doubt you can just bolt up the evo SST tranny to the outlander, mainly because the chassis is different. However if you can find a good custom work shop, they should be able to fabricate new tranny and/or motor mounts so the engine and tranny can be bolted to each other. Also you might need new custom axles because the outlander has a different width and wheelbase compared to the evo. I'm sure there are more issues you will find as you move along
And the problem with the computers, is that they are all linked via a can bus, so you will probably need a evo mr ecu, since the sst tcu doesn't just communicate with any ecu, don;t forget the wiring harness' and the whole nine yards. However if you make this work, you will be the only outlander in the country with a sst!

Yeah I didn't think there was going to be this much trouble. I was thinking in my head when I bought it, oh maybe $5000 or $6000 for the tranny install.

From the sounds of your paragraph, we are talking like $15000 at a custom shop. Screw that.
