hard to get into gear when cold, clutch adjustment or fluid?

So my evo is a ***** to get into gear when its cold. This is only after startup. I cant get it into gear until its been running for like 5 min first. Once I get it in gear, I normally dont have any problems. Every once in awhile, it will be tough when I go to leave a light and throw it in first, it will be hard then too. This doesnt happen often though. I have been told its the fluid. It had redline in it, Im not 100% on the weight though. I have noticed though, when the car is sitting still with the e brake disengaged, when I try to put it into reverse or 1st, i feel the car moving. When I try to shift into reverse, you can feel the car jerking back. Try to go into first, I feel it jerking forward. I have an exedy twin installed. You think it could use adjustment, or is this a fluid issue?

Thanks,
Anthony

Your clutch is dragging man. No adjustment will help no fluid change its not the cold either. I would pull clutch and inspect or drive that way for a lil longer then you'll have no gears. GL

Quite a bolt statement when you obviously can't prove that from across the internet. If it is the clutch dragging then a simple adjustment of raising the engagement could cure that. It is also very possible he's running too thick of a transmission fluid for the winter cold such as a GL-4 75W-90.

Bold and true man....highly unlikely he'll be able to adjust pedal or cold fluid problem. Bye bye syncro rings. Search jacks transmission exedy twin problem on Google. GL

HA! im having the SAME exact issues on my car!
Exedy twin as well!

i noticed i didnt have these issues until i got air in the clutch line. i bled and bled and bled and it didnt get much better. then squeezed the hose between the brake cyl and the tiny clutch reservoir and air bubbles came out. so im fairly sure i have air in there somewhere still. im going to try a power bleeder, see if that fixes it.

Oh and ps, mine was put in the car at the same time the trans was rebuilt. it was all done under warranty. so the dealer rebuilt it, and installed the clutch for me. so i doubt it was done wrong.

Yea, once the car warms up, I never have any problems. If it was the clutch dragging, I would think I would have some issues at some point in time on top of in the mornings. Its only once the car has completely cooled down and has been sitting. I have been told from a good friend, its prolly just the fluid. And to change it out with some amsoil. I found out from the owner is was the redline cocktail that was put into the trans. So whatever mixture that is??

In my opinion, your clutch slave is not pushing the release all the way. The easiest thing to do is to bleed the clutch slave...take you10 minutes and you can get that out of way. If you try to put the car in gear and the car pulls forward a little it means the clutch is still engaged. MY .02 cents.

Yea, that makes sense. I was thinking more of either clutch adjustment, or a bleeding of the clutch.

I would definitely bleed the clutch. If that doesn't help adjust the pedal. But I had a problem with my exedy twin not disengaging properly after a few passes at the track. EVO trannies are a bit "gummy" when cold. I've had mine rebuilt by Shep and it's stiff in the morning especially when it's colder outside, but once it is warmed up it's fine. Try pumping the clutch a few times before putting it into first if your sitting still. Hopefully there is Nothing wrong with your clutch though.

Just a little update. Now that the car sits in the garage every night, the car goes into gear immediately with no problem whatsoever. AS soon as I get in, I start it, put it in reverse and back out of the garage. Goes into gear like butter.
