B&B turbo back + stock cat ... anyone have this setup?

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if there are any EVO owners that have the B&B turbo back exhaust with the stock cat installed?

I live in california, so I need a cat. The B&B is a full 3" exhaust, so what happens if you install the stock cat? will the pipes line up properly? Will it cause any leaks?

Are there aftermarket 3" high flow cat options for this exhaust that will fit correctly?

Thanks for your help....

Steve

You cant, and if you did, it would be incredibly stupid. Buy a 3 inch cat

You can. I have the B&B turboback with the stock cat, it will work fine and you will still see a very noticable difference in power. I guess I'm incredibly stupid . I'll be getting a Random 3" cat soon. I also have the WORKS P2 flash.

I was on my way from Vegas to Pahrump (middle of desert) yesterday and was easily able to hit 168 mph. Two Sportbikes, one a Honda Blackbird and another highly modded Ducati 748 could not keep up. Car definately could have gone a little faster than 168. A friend was driving his stock Evo and could get to 155 on same section.

I would recommend getting the 3" cat but you can run it with the stock cat fine.

I had a B&B with the stock cat and it was nice BUT I added a high flow from UR and it got much better. With the High Flow it breaths soooo much better and pulls harder. So basically the stock cat works but the high flow kicks ***.

how does it bolt to the stock cat, with reducers? The down pipe has a reducer and the cat back also has a reducer?

It bolts right up just fine. No reducers or anything, it just fit.

Yup stock cat with B&B turboback fits perfect. I put on the UR race pipe with this same setup and I will say you will feel a difference without the cat. I had to have the cat because the smell without it isn't worth the 5-10HP you get.

The smell of catalyst material grows on you after a few hundred miles

Hey Hooptie,
you getting a cell with the UR cat? I want the Random as it's supposed to flow the best but some people are getting cells with it. This is why I still have the stock cat. I don't want cell coming on all the time and I want to stay legal so I cant go with UR test pipe.

I actually got 2 cells already about 1000 miles apart. I'm going to my dealership on Friday to find out if it the cat causing the problem. I reset my ECU twice by disconnecting the battery and the light didn't come on until about 1000 miles later. Now I'm not sure if it the cat causing the problem but I'll tell you on friday.

What do you guys use for gaskets when connecting the downpipe to the cat and the catback to the cat? Should I buy a special kind of gasket, reuse stock gaskets?

Also, are you guys saying that you get a CEL with the B&B system and stock cat?

Thanks for all your help,

Steve

Steve,
just use the stock gaskets for the stock cat. You will not get a cell with the stock cat. Some(most) people are getting cells with aftermarket 3" cats. That is one of the reasons I'm waiting to buy one, hoping this will get sorted out.
