STOCK BOOST and 403 at the wheels...

AEM ems tuning of the gt40 is progressing and wanted to share a few observations:

The car is running great with the aem ems and hks 272 intake/exhaust cams and gears. Idle is great and cold start is fine. Takes a few more cranks to start but works like stock pretty much otherwise. The aem pretty much makes short work of the tuning and the hks 272's made a big difference in top end power-it just pulls right through redline now till you run out of spark.

The stock ignition system is seriously limiting power. Got some 420 hp numbers at 1.5 bar but as the car heated up it was not holding up as the spark was scattering... I did get 403 at stock boost however. I need more spark and I will easily hit 450 range.

All runs were done at 94 octane btw. (4 gallons of 76' 100 and 8 gallons of 91 ****) I will be setting up for a map with c16, cat delete and straight pipe for track days- mid 500 hp at 1.6 boost range.

I will post new numbers with the new aem ignition system and some real boost next week...

This is not even close to done, btw....

Consider perhaps HKS's Twin Power DLI II perhaps even? Don't know of any US Mitsubishi using the twin coil system (pretty any of their 4 bangers have it) that has the DLI installed but it is designed to work on the Mitsu ignition setup without (hopefully) to much drama. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ighlight=nyope <---might be of some interest.

Hi there .. not looking for trouble or anything ..

But dynamic test systems dyno generates numbers at the flywheel .. not the usual numbers we're used to (ie dynojets, dyno dynamics, mustang etc) ..

Still for tuning .. its better than trying to figure out yourself

Good luck .. GT40 is a huge turbine

What walbro are you running? Have you upgraded the fuel pump yet?

One of the worst looking dyno sheets I have seen - WHY are you getting all that jerkiness in the power band - is that detonation?>

BTW - I have pushed up to 575 plus whp on the stock ign system with no problems what so ever

What kind of gas are you using ?

Are you listening to detonation with knock cans or similar?

maybe it has something to do with the fact that he is not using a ultra high smothing factor like you were.

403 to the wheels is great on 93oct. gas
