Breaking in a built motor?

This is a controversial topic...some say break it in on the dyno, others say take it easy for the first 1000 miles or so. Most texts I've read do mention about keeping the RPMs high upon startup of a fresh motor (to seat the rings) like around 3000-5000 rpms for a minute or so. Definitely stay away from synthetic motor oil for at least 3000-5000 miles

Like said above it's so controversal...Some say do this and others say do this and not that. It prob doesn't matter, look at Buschur and all the other shops and people that beat the **** out of their new motors or new cars for that matter and they don't have problems and then theres the everyday people that buy new cars and drive it like a grandma and they also dont have problems.
But when I rebuild a motor I do it the way above listed in the link..

Let it idle for a few minutes while you check for leaks, change oil and filter, it should be ready to go!!! Keep an eye on oil level and how it looks and when dirty CHANGE IT!!!
Be sure not to use any FULL synthenic oil for a few thousand miles. use a blend like Brad Penn.

Hmmmm....why would 'break in' on a 'built motor' be any different than 'break in' on a factory motor ?
This question has been asked so many times....Just follow your builders advice

well when i got mine back from being rebuilt during the first 500 miles, my tuner put into the ecu that i couldnt go over 5000 rpms or 12 psi of boost, and not to let rpms stay consistent throttle it then leave off, so other then that change your oil at 500rpms, then again at 1,000 then after you can put synthetic oil in, during my engine breakin, mine was running on castrol conventional oil, for ring seating. Some say throw it on the dyno you can do that to help seat the rings, however you do risk breakin somethin, but if somethin breaks now it would break soon enough

I wouldn't worry so much about breaking something as I would seating the rings correctly. As long as you give it varying RPM's and don't boost the **** out of it right off the bat (at least let it warm up! lol) I would just drive it normal and give it a few extra vacuum pulls for good measure.

I got my first tune on the car after it was reassembled. after the tune they changed the oil. Took it easy on the motor not going crazy on it for 500miles, changed the oil. Drove it like normal getting into it some for 1000 miles changed the oil again. Over the last 2000 miles i drove it however i felt like. Will be getting my oil changed next week and a finalized tune.
