Evo 9 Turbo swap, Tuning??

Well i got a good deal on a evo 9 turbo so i figured i would do the swap since it only takes a cpl of hours. Now my questions is, do i need a tune or its fine for now? I will eventually get a tune this summer once i drop the cams, but for now its on stock boost selenoid ( no boost controller), and i just swaped the turbo with ported manifold and megan o2 housing. Is it okay to drive without a tune?? I dont see why not but i figured i would get some advise.

Bro I just swapped a 9 into my car. Get a tune asap. Regardless what u think its a stock turbo, but your map is set for your old turbo. You could get major problems. Get a tune. Enjoy

yes, it is stock for EVO 9. you have to retune it as soon as you swap it out.

its perfectly fine to drive normally. going into boost isnt advisable as we dont know how aggressive your old tune is.

No matter how many posts i have and how much knowledge i might have there is nothing wrong with getting some advise. Thats wh they say two heads are better than one. Yes i searched and didnt found anything about tunning when swaping to an evo 9 turbo, if you find a thread then let me know.

Yes the car is still on stock oem tune and as i mentioned still on stock selenoid so no boost controller. I thought it would not be a problem due to the fact that the evo 8 vs evo 9 turbo is not that difference on oem set up. The evo 9 turbo
only boosts 2 psi more. I will def get a tune i just wanted to test drive the car first and see the difference in turbos.

Evo 9 is a larger turbo thus moves higher volume of air at same pressure.

needs a retune if youre going to stomp on it.

Do you have a tactrix cable or logging capability? If so then you can do a couple logs once you get the 9 turbo setup and see if there's excessive knock or not. Then you can decide whether to tune it now or wait til the summer.

Yeah you could drive the car with all your mods in it installed. I would wait until the tune to swap out the boost controller and keep the oem one until then. You cannot go WOT and I would lower the boost to 5 psi to prevent boosting.
