blow-by oil
blow-by oil
correct me if i am wrong?wouldn't oil entering the intake track, lubricate the piston rings and cylinder wall from the top of the cylinder.i know oil will cause some gunking of the intake track. Rasta Mike.
Blow by suggests that oil is entering the CC from the bottom past the rings.
Oil entering intake track from valvecover vent is not going to make it through all IP piping, IC, TB, IM and into the CC and if it does you have serious issues

thanks for the info. sounds logical.how about oil from the pcv valve on the valvecover to the intake manifold?

Oil hitting the face of the turbo at WOT is going to be quickly in the engine. Is it need as a lubricant - no. Does it gunk up the intake - yes. It can also cause knock.
Blow by is gases of compression and combustion leaking past the rings into the crankcase. Oil getting into the combustion chamber via the rings is oil burning.

Barney is correct I was thinking backwards. Blow by would be unburnt fuel and gases getting past the rings and into the crankcase which can quickly degrade oil.
Oil can also get past the rings from the crankcase and cause you a nice blueish smoke out the tailpipe
