Will lowering & adjusting Boost Controller affect the Map?

Hi Guys,
i just wonder will re-adjusting and lower a boost controller affect the existing map?

Ive not done anything on the boost gain and what i did is re-setting the boost warning and limiter on my Profec B II.

I just felt that my car is slightly lower aggressive as before.

Thanks

When you say re-adjusting/lower, I am assuming you are implying you turned the boost down on your mbc?

If this is the case then the answer is yes. If the car is tuned for a certain boost setting and you alter that is going to affect a few things. First you won't be hitting as high load cells on the tune as you would be (less air flow) and essentially less power. Also, the car is going to run richer if you turn down the boost and don't touch your air/fuel maps. Both of these will result in less power, which is what sounds like is happening...

Sorry after I posted this I realized you said profec b not a manual controller, but the above still applies just the same.

I use to turn the boost up and down at will, I had a maximum psi for pump gas example 31psi and the lowest 24psi I can run.

Yes it will affect the map. Maps are set up for a specific boost level. Think of it as lower boost = less air pushed into the motor.. but you still dump the same amount of fuel so it will run rich.

Adjusting the boost does not affect your MAP. Adjusting boost will determine what load cells you hit on your map (tune). You may get lucky and your map be OK for your new boost, but highly unlikely that it will be perfect...

The only way to know is to log your car and look at your logs....

No, not true...

+1

Upon turning down the boost, the car will hit lower load cells so assuming it was properly calibrated for the entire map then it should be fine.

On the other hand if you were to turn up the boost you might hit load cells out of the visibility of the map thus running into issues.

No. Thats the mass air-flow sensor's job.
