For both turbos I would build the block. You don't wanna be out of a car while your blocks being rebuiltfrom running such turbo. I had my hta 35 on for about 4k miles and loved it! Sadly I have to let it go though

so youre willing to sacrifice an $800 core charge on a block instead of building one properly and making whatever power you want on a black or 35r?

Well if money is not an issue and you have the supporting mods, GT53 it is. The FP Black journal bearing is know to be finicky with oil. The stock block (imho) loves a lighter body oil (I run amsoil 0w20) and the GT35BB had not had a problem for the 8K+ miles I've thrown at it.

Then again, a FP Black swap would be less down time at the mechanic.

This... Wouldnt you rather have the ABILITY to put the tq wherever you want to have it and still make gobs of power out top, and be really fast anywhere to boot? Or would you just like to have a ride that makes stellar power NUMBERS and sounds fast on paper? Black>35r

ya the black definitely has a fatter powerband then a standard 35r.

also the black can flow 68lb/min so people shouldn't under estimate it just because its a stock frame turbo.

Not really most kits come pre assembled, hang the waste gate, dump tube, connect water line, oil lines, hook up DP and your good to go.

With the stock frames you have manifold to hotside and hotside to O2 housing bolts to deal with. Cant tell you what a PITA those bolts are.

Oh and who the hell takes their EVO to a mechanic JK
