The pedal stop is suggested to prevent over extension and possible damage. I think I saw one post on this board where somebody damaged a QM when they didn't use a pedal stop, but maybe they had shimmed it?
The reason I would use a pedal stop though is the engagement point. The clutch only takes about 3/4" of pedal travel to fully engage. This means you have about 3" of "dead" travel from the floor and it makes it pretty hard to tell when the clutch is going to grab when leaving a stop. Put the pedal stop on there and cut that dead space down to about an inch and it makes it A LOT easier to drive on the street.

I paid to have my Qm 8 leg installed rather than doing it myself and the shop said they had to shim mine to the tune of a extra $75 fee for the extra time it took to shim it.
I'm interested in the pedal stop.. Is there a link to one that people have used or something? It was either the qm 8 leg or exedy triple and I didn't want to have nitmares about the clip popping off plus the qm is lighter and doesn't have the problem that the exedy has with the disks wearing out the hub thing

I spoke to QM today. You should measure your offset as it explains in the instructions. If you're close to the recommended .130" offset...leave it. If you're way off you will need to shim. They were saying that 1 car out of 50 needs shimmed.
so it's not that it shouldn't be done, it's that it's highly unlikely that its necessary.

since i started the thread i kept asking here and there, and then i installed mine without any shims bec i was told evos dont need that. and its working with no problem.
however, as R/TErnie stated that the right thing to do is to measure it although u might not need it.

Be sure to take the measurements. Mine was just at or below the minimum clearance without shims. My release bearing started touching my pressure plate fingers all the time. I think I caught it before too much damage was done. The clutch is on the way to QM for inspection.
