Spring tune up? Ideas.
Spring tune up? Ideas.
Well spring is almost here and I need to do a tune up on the car. Basic info on car is stock with cat back exhaust. has 101xxx miles
lots of highway driving to and from work.
Having some acceleration problems, went to get on it and dropped it down from 4th to 3rd and got on it hard, it stumbled/backfired, basically just didn't go anywhere like a bad misfire.
What would you change or tune up. Doing basic things like oil's, spark plugs, wires, and coils, would like to do major gaskets, and timing belt. Also have the Energy suspension kit # 5.18115G Master Set, should I take the time to change it, any reviews on it if you have that, how it rides.
Would you do water pump?
Anything else would help, thanks for the help.

Any time you do a timing belt, do the water pump and tensioner.
I did the energy suspension kit not too long ago, just to warn you it is a lot of work. It definitely improved the drive though, everything felt nice and tight. There are a couple of bushings in the rear that this does not replace, I bought those elsewhere, as these are meant to pivot, you cannot put a poly mount there. These are on the lower arm that the bottom of the rear strut bolts up to. Replace if they are needed. Also spray all the bolts with a can of pb blaster beforehand to loosen up the rust, it will make it a little easier to get everything apart. You don't want to break any bolts.
I would go ahead and replace transmission/transfer case/ rear diff fluids unless you know the last time you changed these.
Check the air filter, make sure that is all good, and spark plugs/ wires are a good idea.
If you can, do a boost leak test and examine for boost leaks.
There is much more you could do as well, others can chime in with ideas... but this is what I just did, besides timing belt/water pump/tenisoner, which is my spring tune up.
