Fluttering noise

I went on a 2 hour drive to a car show and on my way home I started hearing a fluttering noise coming out of the engine I think. It was almost timed, the fluttering would occur for like 5 seconds and stop for like 15 seconds and then it would happen all over again. It would stop happening when I took my foot off the pedal and would keep fluttering when I accelerated again. This happened at freeway speeds of about 65mph. It also occurred at 40mph. Any ideas of what could be happening?

Car hasn't been touched other than driving it. Stock Evo 9 BOV. This only happens when I'm at a steady constant speed. Not while accelerating or in neutral. But say I'm going 20mph and stay at that speed the fluttering will start. It's almost like a fluttering/ticking noise. Really hard to explain and it's a very low noise.

I would keep an eye on your dipstick and look for metal in the oil. If you have a bearing issue, better to catch it early.
