Alcohol consumption seems to help with alot of problems, but a different context.

Check to see if the seals are seated and PVCC is working properly (i.e, open to vacuum except under boost where it's open to compressor inlet)

One interesting thing, when I bought my car brand new 7 years ago it would burn up to 1 qt for about 3000 miles. Last year I replaced the turbo and it burns absolutely NO oil

I've built as many, actually probably more 4g63's than anyone else, ridiculous amount of engines. Oil consumption is odd in some engines. Some of the most powerful, longest lasting engines use oil from day one. They don't smoke, they don't leak and they run like a top. Adding oil is a PITA, obviously. It seems as the boost levels go up the oil consumption, many times, follows. Catch cans get some of it, if not it goes out the breather hose and onto the ground or too many times back into the intake.....eventually ruining the intercooler efficiency.

I refuse to rebuild an engine that uses oil that doesn't smoke, doesn't leak and makes good power. I have a customer who comes to mind, back I'd guess close to 10 years ago, wasn't happy with the oil consumption, back then we told him to bring it back but we were 100% confident the engine was good.........here we are 10 years later, BIG mileage on the engine. He never brought it back and just told us a few weeks ago it's been fantastic. Turbo seals at high boost are another good place to lose oil into the exhaust.

Something else real quick. It doesn't take a large mishap or a long time of abuse at high HP levels ton ruin ring seal. Friend/customer of mine we did a build on and then freshened the engine last year......700 whp build. Car ran like a top. He ended up running the car lean, lost a fuel pump, trying to figure out the problem, test drives, it would get élan for a second and he'd lift. After the problem was found the car never ran the numbers it should, used oil and pushed it out of the catch can breather. Car came into us a month or so ago to check it out. Compression was good. Pulled the cams and did a leak down, it was poor, going into the crankcase. Head checked out good. Cylinder walls were MINT. Pulled the pistons and the ring tension was SHOT. Really LIGHT honing, no new bearings a year of abuse on it. Just slid rings in and put it back together. Car was 100% again.

I use to burn alot of oil , but as time went by dyno after dyno my car always made the same power if not more so it wasn't a biggie. I too at first thought something was wrong.

Was looking into the same issue. Little shy of the 1k mark on my new 2.3L engine and probably put in about 2 to 2.5 quarts of oil so far. Sounds like it's not necessarily an issue to worry about. Only issue is just making sure that you don't let the oil get too low.

well one key thing to help with consumption issues, one dont use synthetic for at least 1k after rebuildin the engine. Another thing is to make sure you dont keep the rpms at the same spot for an extended amount of time, even if that means downshifting upshifting, always keep the rpms movin around, and no more then 10psi, so far mines been pretty good ive got 30k+ on my built engine and the oil consumption ive had was due to a few oil leaks haha but other then that its been real good. So as long as you follow your engine builders advice, your rings should seal properly, make good power not lose much oil. Other then that, happy hp hunting haha

Using the Brad Penn 20w-50 which I believe is a partial synthetic. Interesting about the consistent rpm. Never heard of that, but I certainly put quite a bit of my mileage traveling back and forth to Buschurs which is all highway driving at the same rpm level.

I've definitely checked for leaks but the garage floor is as spotless as it can be.

metalsaber that varying rpm was only during breakin period after 500-1000 miles ur good. Thats what my tuner said to do, and im not an idiot with cars, which did make sense. But yea highway speeds only way to get good gas mileage is lug around at lower rpms in 5th, but still i try to vary every couple miles either speed up to 70 ish to 80 ish....

OP, have you ever resolved the issue? I'm having about the same oil consumption as you, doesn't smoke (much), doesn't leak but goes through 1/2qt of oil every 150miles (about what you're seeing?).
