Newly rebuilt drivetrain noisy as hell..

Hey just wanted some feedback. My newly rebuilt drivetrain has about 190 break in miles so far. The tranny was rebuilt, and the transfercase replaced.

When I spent 10 minutes or more on a drive, when i park it, its smells very much like it did when i drove around with my old blown tcase. Also, I hear a loud whine (sounds like the death whine) when i drive around but its only above about 30mph. It goes away sometimes and comes back.
-Do u think this could be just normal for break in? Oh also, the tcase has a wavetrac lsd in it.

I am about to hit 200 miles. Should i change the fluids at 200 or wait till 300?

Anyone else have wavetracs in their front? Are they noisy?

Yeah they put in amsoil. The shop Works on evos on a regular basis including all the other evos in team rev. I found a missing part on a tranny allready so I am wondering if the rebuilders had a newbie tech do my rebuild. I am having AAA tow my car back to the shop.

I reckon they've massively underfilled the transfer by just pumping it full of fluid quickly until it overflows then thought it's finished.
Pretty easy rookie mistake to make, hence why you should always measure out how much needs to go in to ensure it's correctly filled.

Nah not this shop. They have evos in and out and like I said they handle all of Team Revs cars.
They have more experience than likely any other shop around on evos. No rooky mistakes for this shop.

I cant help but wonder about the builder. I have been keeping their name on the dl because I havent reached a conclusion and reputation is a very important marketing tool on this site. But I will say, what lead me to use the particular builder was this:
I read a thread where this builded made a mistake on a customers car, then they sorted everything out and took care of the customer. Customer was satisified. The most important thing is that a company can fix a mistake not that a company never makes mistakes.

That said, this builder allready forgot to install one part of my linkage on my tranny. The shop that took care of my install and removal went out of their way to go get one out of a junk yard for me.

Oh and I Was wrong. They used Redline gear oil in the tcase and Redline shockproof in the tranny. The redline that they used is good with the Wavetrac LSD too.

Will find out more tomorrow.

doesn't sound normal.. whine can occur downlow alittle but if it dont go away by atleast 15-20mph you got problems arising.

did you try contacting the place yet?

holy mind reading monkeys. TS little did u know u are going to tune my car soon!! :P Thats totally awesome that you ended up on my post haha. I will pick up a wideband when this drivetrain gets cleared up.

Ok will contact them tomorrow. After the shop takes a look at it. If the shop messed up anything, they will fix it gauranteed. But if they didnt, then I will talk to the builder. Yeah at first when i noticed the whine i totally thought it was just the wavetrac. It was when it got louder and i began to smell those drivetrain fluids cooking that I knew something was amiss.

ok we will see what happens.

thanks for the input.

edit: I dunno but when i asked them if they put redline shockproof in the tcase he said no. They allready do not use shockproof if there is an lsd (or maybe an aftermarket lsd) they said the lack of friction makes lsds not lock correctly. This was something that concerned me as I was nervous that the put in the wrong fluid. I always used amsoil but i have heard equally good things about Redline.
