I'm sure there are numerous peopl with A/C compressors they will sell you for a good deal.

I've got one with 50k on it, for example.

I know I can get a good deal but the a/c system is not something I want to mess around with for a long time
the other issue is the part numbers
mine says mn185573 whereas I see others have mn151387 as theirs
some online guys list 185570 also
which ones can work in place of each other?
Thanks

We always have a ton of A/C systems for sale.. although most people dont know you should keep the lines and compressors sealed as well as possible or it wont be any good if the system is open for a long period of time.

This is from a few years in the past but I am sure the situation hasn't changed.....

My wife's car needed a A/C compressor. The radiator - A/C shop said they could install a rebuild for x dolloars. Well, my wife was very particular about her car and insisted on a new compressor. So, back I went to the shop I went. Well, the owner, who had been in the business for years, said that that would be the first new compressor he had ever installed.

So, I suggest, the A/C compressor business is all rebuilds and not new which would be cheaper.

That is true, you can kill your receiver dryer. If it's a short time, recc. evac when replacing a compressor and recharging is at least a half hour evac.

In all my years of working on car(outside of the performance industry) i have never installed a rebuilt compressor when i was a technician at a dealer, independent shop or other. and if we had a car that had a open system for more than say 24hrs we would always pull a vac on it for atleast 30min as someone already said. If anybody needs parts of the A/c system feel free to PM. I think we have 4 sets of lines, 4 compressors and 2 condensors/driers

I don't see an issue w/ a rebuilt compressor, it's been done many times before you and I existed. There are alternatives to rebuilt compressors and if you have the money, don't jip yourself, get a factory or factory replacement that "meets or exceeds" standards.

In light of that looks like force-fed has what you need.

You could remove your compressor entirely pretty cheaply. Free's up some weight too!
